WHAT TO EXPECT
The Lord’s Supper
Purpose: to remember and proclaim Jesus Christ’s death until He returns (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34)
In practise, this is a reflective time of prayer, sharing from Scripture, and singing of songs, and finally the sharing of the bread and cup closer to the end of the meeting. As well, an offering bag is shared at the end of the meeting.
Participation: all believers showing the marks of true conversion (cf. 1 John) are welcome to participate and share in the bread and wine. Those uncertain of their standing before God are welcome to come and observe but not participate. Similarly, the offering is only shared with believers. There is no solicitation or expectation of giving of funds.
Family Bible Hour
Purpose: to hear, learn, and obey from God’s Word, the Bible (2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16)
In practise, the meeting opens with songs, old or new, followed by the preaching of God’s Word while the children attend Sunday School
Participation: there are no restrictions on listening to a message from God’s Word
Sunday School
Purpose: to instruct children in the narratives and truths of God’s Word
In practise, the children are taught weekly lessons as part of a structured curriculum that covers the main storyline of the Bible. Each lesson includes games or crafts or singing.
Participation: open to children between the ages of about three to early teens
